Does GSM offer prototyping or contract manufacturing services?

Yes. GSM has an experienced team of tool makers producing prototypes. How do you choose between stamping, laser cutting, and press brake forming?

When your annual need approaches 20,000 units, you should contact GSM to provide a free evaluation. Laser/Press Brake has very little upfront tooling requirements and is suitable for small order multiples. When lower piece price is desired, progressive stamping produces 14-20 parts per minute from coil with very little labor content. What metals and part thickness can GSM fabricate?

We most commonly work with 20ga to 1.5" thick sheet and 1/2" to 8" tube. The most common materials are steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and copper. Our fabrication process can accommodate other materials as well but these are the most cost effective/popular types.

Does GSM have automation and robotic fabrication processes to be cost competitive?

Yes. GSM uses automation/robots for welding (dual arm and single arm stations), 5-axis laser cutting, press brake, tube bending, and riveting operations. We utilize vision systems to ensure components are sized correctly (weld nuts) and match the customers' 2D drawing.
