Who can work for me as a caregiver through LHCSA?

Through FreedomCare’s Licensed Home Care Services Agency (LHCSA), caregivers must be New York State–certified Home Health Aides (HHAs) or Personal Care Aides (PCAs) who have completed all required training, background checks, and health screenings. Only individuals who meet NYS regulatory and competency standards can provide care. A caregiver cannot be the spouse, parent, son, son-in-law, daughter, or daughter-in-law of the patient.

Can I bring my own caregiver to FreedomCare LHCSA?

Yes—one of the benefits of working with FreedomCare’s LHCSA is the ability to bring your own caregiver. A trusted friend or family member may be eligible if they meet New York State requirements; however, a caregiver cannot be the spouse, parent, son, son-in-law, daughter, or daughter-in-law of the patient.If they are not yet certified, our LHCSA offers a state-approved training program. Applicants must meet basic eligibility criteria and complete all NYS onboarding steps. Once certified, they can work as your caregiver under our LHCSA program.

Do I need Medicaid to qualify for home care services through LHCSA?

Yes.
