What is the qualification process?
The Arc of Butte County provides services to individuals who meet the eligibility criteria established by the Far Northern Regional Center (FNRC) . In order to benefit from our services, individuals or caregivers must first qualify for FNRC programs and must be referred to us by FNRC. Please be advised that The Arc of Butte County is not responsible for determining eligibility for our programs.
Who is eligible for services?
Residents of California who have a developmental disability that significantly hinders them are eligible for services. The disability must have originated before the age of 18, and it includes conditions such as intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, and other neurological conditions that require similar treatment. Far Northern Regional Center provides referrals to the residents of Butte, Modoc, Siskiyou, Glenn, Plumas, Tehama, Lassen, Shasta, or Trinity counties in Northern California.

An individual is diagnosed as having an intellectual disability when they score significantly below average on a test of mental ability/intelligence and are limited in their functional ability in numerous areas of life, such as communication, self-care, and social situations or activities. As our clients’ safety is our top priority, we conduct background checks for all individuals who have direct interactions with them. This means that there are limited volunteer opportunities for those who want to work with our clients. However, we welcome volunteers from the community who can assist with in-person fundraising events by volunteering their time, donating tangible items, or making monetary contributions.
